Briefers

About

One case a day.

Briefers is a daily detective game. Every day there is one new case, and you are the detective who walks into it.

You move through the scene one place at a time. You pick up the papers that were left behind, you meet the people who were there, and you hear what each of them has to say. Everything you gather goes into your notebook. When the walk ends, you name the culprit and the reason. You get three attempts.

How a case is built

Every case can be solved from what is on the page. There is no outside knowledge you are expected to have and no coin toss at the end. If something has to be known to close the case, the case teaches it to you before you need it. The people lie, the papers do not, and the order in which you found things matters.

Each case stands on its own. You do not need yesterday's to solve today's, and nothing carries over.

Your record

Which cases you closed, on which attempt, and how long it took stays in your browser and nowhere else. Open the site on another device and it starts empty. There is no account to make.
